We came to Alfred as college students, and it was here that God powerfully met us and transformed our lives. Through rich, biblical teaching and firsthand encounters with God’s work in us, a passion was birthed in our hearts—to see others encounter Him for the first time and to rediscover Him in fresh and life-changing ways.

Today, with grateful hearts and great humility, we are honored to serve this church family and community as your lead pastors, committed to shepherding with love, integrity, and a deep dependence on Jesus.
Our History
Lighthouse Christian Fellowship began in 1979 as a college outreach at Alfred University and Alfred State and officially became a church in 1985, founded by Roger and Penny Gardner. Rooted in the four practices of the early church found in Acts 2—teaching the Word, fellowship, breaking bread, and prayer—the ministry has always focused on building God’s Kingdom across generations. In May of 2025, Pastor Roger and Penny passed the baton of leadership to the next generation, Pavel and Maria Boyuk, while continuing to serve full time with college students through Bible studies and campus events. We are a non-denominational, Bible-believing, Spirit-filled ministry committed fully to the truth of Scripture.
